Martin Luther King III to speak at rally during event!
Martin Luther King III, actor David Arquette and musicians Josh Groban and Herbie Hancock are slated to lead a rally for the nonprofit group Feeding America at noon on Monday outside Washington's Martin Luther King Library. This is a nice addition to our day of service and we are asking everyone that comes to support by bringing canned and non-perishable foods to support the Capitol Area Food Bank.

This should be the biggest We Feed Our People Ever!
The 22nd Annual We Feed Our People is shaping up to be the biggest one yet. Interest has been great. Volunteers are signing up from all over the country. Many people are coming to town for the historic inauguration of President Elect Obama. And with the economy being what it is, the need is greater than ever before.
We have been told by the city to expect some "celebrity guests" this year. Not quite sure who might be coming, but we are more interested in the stories of some of our longtime, first time and visting volunteers. How many years have you come out? How did you first get involved? Share your story here so that we may share it with others.

Working Hard and Having Fun!
We have been working hard at the HU Law School Cafeteria for the past two days. You may go to the photo page and see some links of the many volunteers that gave up their Saturday and Sunday to prepare the food that we serve on Monday.

Donate Today ! Its not too late
There are only a few days left and we need your help to meet our fund raising goals.
Top 5 reasons for not donating ... debunked.
5. I don't have much to give my $5, $10, or $25 donation won't make a difference.
Not true: We have very thrifty shoppers. We can turn $5 into 2 meals.
4. I meant to but its too late now.
Oh no no: We have limited storage and want to serve fresh and nutritious meals.
So we won't start shopping until late Friday 1/18. We will be buying fresh food Saturday,
Sunday, and even Monday morning. So its never too late.
3. I don't get paid until the end of the month.
That's Ok: We take credit cards. We also use credit cards so even after the event bills will be coming in. Really its never to late.
2. I'm coming to volunteer.
Thank you very much we need your sweat equity: Can you ask your friends, family and neighbors to help ?
1. I don't know what you are going to do with my money. I'm not trying to pay for expensive
vacations or private jets.
No Worries: 100% of the money raise will go to feeding the homeless. Really 100%. We
typically feed 500-800 people a year. This year has been especially bad for food banks See Cupboards Are Bare at Food Banks (Washington Post). No salaries! There are perks - fun and camaraderie in the kitchen, music and fellowship outside the library, and the good feeling that comes from continuing the King legacy. Oh and when you are in the kitchen you can almost always sneak a taste of IG's famous turkey.
